Why should we care about animal rights? First, other animals want what we do. We want to spend time with our family – like cows who often cry for their babies after being forcibly taken away by the dairy industry. We want freedom – like killer whales that suffer in cramped, barren aquariums in marine parks. We want autonomy – like the monkeys who often go crazy in laboratories, where experimenters subject them to painful invasive surgeries. And like all animals, we don’t want to suffer.
Latins have been bringing this message home for a long time. Icons such as Cesar Chavez were “influencers” in favor of animals long before the word was coined. Today, from the highest level of the Vatican to the movie screen, Latins continue to oppose arrogance. Here are 17 inspirational Latin quotes to motivate you to take action to protect animals.
