- If your host is genuinely okay with you taking your dog for Thanksgiving dinner, it’s important that your dog doesn’t enter a hectic, loud atmosphere with too much extra energy. All the different smells of food, new people and commotion can create a stressful or anxiety-inducing situation for your dog. Give your dog lots of exercise and mental stimulation before eating. In this way, they are more likely to be a gentle and courteous guest.
