Charlotte, North Carolina – Groundbreaking NASCAR driver Daniel Suarez– First International Racer to Win a Major NASCAR National Series – Accelerates in new MAP video and hit the brakes just in time to prevent someone from making the potentially fatal mistake of leaving the dog in the car on a summer day.

“You probably have no idea that your dog could die of heatstroke in the time it takes you to make a quick pit stop,” Suarez tells the woman in the video. “Whatever business you do is not as important as your dog’s life, right?” Of course I agree!

The temperature inside a parked car can reach three-digit numbers in just a few minutes, and since dogs cannot sweat and mostly cool themselves by panting, they are at greater risk of heatstroke than humans. Already this year, 28 dogs were registered dead from heat-related causes… (The actual figure is undoubtedly much higher as most heat-related pet deaths go unreported.)

Anyone who sees a dog in a parked car should take immediate action: write down the color, make, model and license plate of the car and hurry to get the store page with the owner. If you can’t find them, call 911, and if the authorities don’t answer, do whatever you can to save your life. PETA offers a window breaker for emergency relief. As Suarez says: “Be the champion of your dogs!”

Suarez, who won the 2016 NASCAR Xfinity Series with Joe Gibbs, currently drives the # 99 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE for the Trackhouse Racing team in the NASCAR Cup and the # 02 Chevrolet Silverado for Young’s motorsport in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. … He joins a growing roster of racers and other celebrities, including Formula One Lewis Hamilton, Ferrari Challenge driver James Weiland and NASCAR’s Leilani Munter, who are all part of the PETA team when it comes to rewarding animal kindness.

PETA, whose motto is in part that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way,” is opposed to arrogance, a worldview focused on human superiority. For more information please visit PETA.org or subscribe to the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram…
