Montreal “After behind-the-scenes pressure from PETA and appeals from more than 100,000 group supporters, APP Group, which owns retailers Mackage and SOIA & KYO, has just confirmed that it has banned fur for its brands. PETA sends him a box of delicious vegan chocolates as a token of gratitude.
“Any retailer who can read the writing on the wall will give the furs to the fur,” says PETA executive vice president Tracey Reiman. “Pieces of stolen animal fur are disappearing from the shelves of brands ranging from Canada Goose and Moose Knuckles to Simons and Winners, which is why PETA sings, ‘Ding Dong, the evil fur industry is dead.”
PETA notes that most animals killed for fur spend their entire lives in cramped cages, where they desperately pace back and forth, gnaw on rods and maim themselves in frustration before being electrocuted, gassed, or poisoned – and a dirty fur factory. farms have become COVID-19 hotspots. Animals locked in their homes in nature often suffer for several days before trappers arrive to shoot, strangle, beat, or trample them to death.
Mackage and SOIA & KYO join hundreds of leading retailers and designers in banning fur, and PETA is urging the public to demand that Shopbop follow suit.
PETA – whose motto is in part that “the animals are not ours” – opposes arrogance, a worldview focused on human excellence. For more information please visit PETA.org or subscribe to the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram…
