Cesar Millan in the doghouse after allegedly covering up the dog’s aggressive history

Cesar Millan is in hot water after a recent alleged attack by his dog Junior, which left aspiring gymnast Lidia Matiss unable to compete. In the lawsuit, Matiss alleges that the dog was known to be aggressiveafter attacking and beating to death one of Queen Latifah’s dogs.

This wouldn’t be the first time the controversial dog trainer has come under fire, as other dog behavior experts argue that the self-taught Cesar lacks a fundamental understanding of dog behavior and genetics. As such, this lawsuit is simply the most recent example of how the celebrity has become the center of controversy and criticism in the dog training world.

More importantly, though, this outdated knowledge led him to supposedly become aggressive, attacking not just other dogs, but people as well.

Lidia Matiss was a “star gymnast” who performed at level 10, as part of the US Gymnastics Junior Olympics program, according to the lawsuit. In other words, she was on top of her game and ready to make her mark on the gymnastics world. Apparently, even the University of Pennsylvania was actively recruiting her, which would mean she’d probably get a scholarship for her studies too.

However, her gymnastics career has since come to an abrupt end after Cesar Millan’s dog allegedly attacked her while she was visiting the office presided over by the famous dog trainer. Her mother used the same offices she worked for Cesar, and the dog — a breed of pit bull named Junior — was allowed to roam freely. This is despite allegations that the dog was known to employees as aggressive.

While in the office, Matiss says she was mauled, with the dog repeatedly biting her legs, including her left calf. Lidia went to the emergency room, where her injuries are said to be serious. As such, Matiss’ legal team, made up of Omar G. Qureshi and Brian M. Adesman, claims she can no longer compete. In particular, the claim states that she is in physical and emotional pain as a result of the attack.

However, the lawsuit goes further, alleging that the dog was known to be aggressive and had attacked and mauled several other dogs in the past. One of those puppies was star queen Latifah’s dog, who was killed by Junior. It alleges that Cesar told employees to cover up the attack and to tell Latifah that her dog had been hit by a car instead.

If true, the consequences will be devastating for everyone involved. Of course, Cesar Millan responded to the charges, stating that Matiss was aware of the dog’s aggressive nature and acted negligently around Junior. However, it does not claim how negligent Matiss was. Nor does the response — given what we know so far — argue against the claim that other dogs have been attacked by his dog.
