Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo – A guinea pig named Galaxionaut will remain on earth when Switzerland-backed Développement Tous Azimuts (DTA), a Congolese space exploration company, launches its Troposphere 6 rocket. This decision follows a letter from PETA and its subsidiary PETA Switzerland to Jean-Patrice Keck Ojemba Okese, the founder of DTA, in which he strongly recommended that plans to send a small animal into space be abandoned. As a token of gratitude, PETA awards Keck, who also agreed to ban all space experiments on animals with the Life Saver 2021 award.

Keka wrote to PETA the following:

Having listened with interest to your respective arguments, I make a firm decision and commitment to declare a complete ban on the use of animals in DTA space experiments, and along with this we are abandoning our plan to place the Galaxionaut aboard this launch, confirming to you that it will be immediately returned to it. natural environment. Instead, the Mpongo capsule (vessel) will be equipped with different sensors, which is an alternative method to achieve the same result without the use of animals.

“Mr. Kecka acted quickly and decisively to save the vulnerable guinea pig from a gruesome, confusing and potentially deadly trip into space,” says PETA Vice President Shalin Gala. “Animals are not astronauts, and PETA honors Développement Tous Azimuts for jumping into light years ahead in a space race just for humans. “

Following vigorous PETA campaigns, NASA and the European Space Agency, which represents Switzerland among its 22 member states, have ended space experiments on monkeys, and the agencies have acknowledged that the results of these experiments had nothing to do with human astronauts.

PETA, whose motto is in part that “animals are not ours to experiment on” – opposes arrogance, a worldview focused on human excellence. For more information please visit PETA.org or subscribe to the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram…
