Elberta, Alabama. – BUT Reward from hero to animals is on the way from PETA Kids – PETA’s youth division – to 5-year-old Oliver Caver, who, after learning about how litter can harm marine animals, challenged his father to see who could collect more litter from local beaches. Since then, they have collected more 3800 lbs garbage. Cavers also founded Clean Horizons, an organization that encourages people to help decorate beaches, and even wrote a children’s book about their efforts called Litter, Litter, come here please…
“Oliver Kaver’s tremendous heart and hard work made the Alabama coast a safer place for seagulls, turtles and anyone who swims, flies or walks there,” says Martha Holmberg, PETA Senior Director of Youth Programs. “PETA Kids recognizes his compassion, commitment and all-round heroism towards animals and hopes that he will inspire others to take action.”
PETA Kids, whose motto, in particular, says that “animals are not in our hands to abuse them”, agrees with Oliver that garbage is dangerous for animals: whales, turtles and seabirds often mistake it for food and if eaten, it can suffocate them or cause a fatal stomach or intestinal obstruction. Birds often wrap their beaks or entangle their wings in discarded line, and the hooks can swallow or get stuck in the beak or beak. For these and many other reasons, PETA Kids encourages people to never litter and always collect trash on their way.
PETA Kids stands against racism, a worldview focused on human excellence. For more information please visit PETAKids.com or subscribe to the group on Facebook or Instagram…
