Atlanta – See PETA Senior Vice President Katy Guillermo’s statement regarding the possibility that Emory University may exclude the name Robert Yerkes from its primate center because he was a supporter of eugenics:
Robert Yerkes was a pioneer of imprisonment and experimentation on primates and therefore was an advocate of human as well as white supremacy. Emory will only be able to completely erase his legacy of oppression when he stops ripping off baby monkeys from their mothers, addicted monkeys to drugs, crashing into their brains, infecting them with disease and killing them – in addition to modernizing his research protocols so that this is no longer terrorize any living beings.
