PETA Celebrates the End Meat Gala and hopes visitors will embrace sustainable and animal-friendly fashion – meaning no fur, leather, cashmere, wool or feathers, ”said PETA President Ingrid Newkirk after the August announcement that this year’s Met Gala will feature a full vegan menu. … And Billie Eilish, one of PETA’s prettiest vegans in 2021, won’t let us – or more importantly, other animals – down. Working with Oscar de la Renta on her 2021 Met Gala look, the vegan singer-songwriter made sure her dress was animal-friendly. PETA announced last month that the legendary designer will be ditching fur after decades of disruption to our catwalks, protests, gently tossed tofu pies and pressure from activists around the world. We now know that Billie Eilish also starred!
“Oscar de la Renta will stop selling fur at the insistence of Ms Eilish, who is a vegan and animal rights activist,” wrote New York Times…

Knowing how easy and important it is to hit the crowd without Killing or exploiting animals is second nature to Billy, whose online activity included telling 40 million Instagram followers about how minks suffer when they are killed for fur slippers and false eyelashes, as well as how how sheep are mutilated in the wool industry. “[W]“Understand this, please,” she urged her fans of the PETA video “P! nk Speaks Up for Sheep, “which reveals the horrific hidden cruelty of exploiting sheep for wool.
So it comes as no surprise that Billy was dressed (sympathetically) on “Biggest Fashion Night” to impress and to help animals.

Is this the most animal-friendly gala to date?
It’s a sign of the times: first a completely vegan menu that is sure to set a trend for other fashion events, then Billy made the fur-free design a star of the red carpet – the days when Met Gala members wore pieces of tortured, animal corpses and called it “fashionable” are numbered. It is clear that compassion is in vogue and always will be.
“I find it shocking that wearing fur is not completely illegal at this point in 2021. I am so thrilled that … the Oscar de la Renta team heard me on this issue and made a change that not only has more benefits for animals, but also for our planet and the environment. I am honored to be a catalyst and to be heard about this. I encourage all designers to do the same. ” —Billy Eilish
