IIn 2021, PETA Asia researchers visited live animal markets in China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Laos and Sri Lanka. In these markets, buyers can buy both live and dead animals.
New footage from PETA Asia shows chickens, bats, monkeys, civets, fish, pigs and other animals, both dead and alive, sold for food or used in traditional medicine, entertainment or other purposes. The carcasses were displayed on blood-soaked countertops, and both live animals and raw meat were handled without gloves. These markets are cesspits.
