Rockville, Maryland. – Compassionate Business Award moves from PETA to local Federal real estate investment fund to develop warning signs about the danger of leaving dogs and children in parked cars and installing them on more than 100 properties across the country, after discussions with PETA.
“The temperature inside a parked car rises to dangerous levels in minutes, so even a ‘quick deal’ can be fatal to a dog or a child trapped inside,” says PETA President Ingrid Newkirk. “By responding to PETA’s call for warning signs, Federal Realty can save countless vulnerable lives.”
Last year heat-related deaths of the 31 dogs made the news – and many more suffered and died out of the public eye. Anyone who sees a dog or child in a parked vehicle should write down its color, make, model and license plate and indicate the owner on the store page – if they cannot be found, call local humanities or the police. … And if they don’t respond, do whatever you can to save the animal’s life. PETA offers a window breaker for emergency relief.
The Federal Realty Investment Trust will receive a framed certificate and a box of delicious vegan chocolates.
