Weiauwega, Wisconsin. – After PETA notified authorities that the local roadside menagerie Animal Haven Zoo had brought a newborn tiger into a classroom to interact with children, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced the institution a link for not meeting the minimum requirements of the federal animal law “Social security, ”says the inspection report just received by PETA.
PETA reported to the USDA after a teacher and employee at Animal Haven Zoo posted photos of a classroom exhibit of children stroking a tiger cub on social media. The agency then inspected the facility and referred to its transportation and display of the animal, stating, “A public exhibition of young tigers under 4 weeks of age puts them at risk of getting sick” as they “cannot fight disease and infection.” “
“Risking the health of a tiny baby is an animal hell, this is not heaven, ”says Michelle Sinnott, deputy director of animal law enforcement at PETA. PETA is asking the public to stay away from roadside zoos such as Animal Haven and reminding everyone that reputable institutions do not bring vulnerable cubs to classrooms.
PETA also notes that Animal Haven Zoo acquired big cats from questionable dealers, including the infamous King of tigers item “Joe Exotic” – and encloses animals in miserable, dilapidated cages without any additional items.
PETA, whose motto is in part that “the animals are not ours to be used for entertainment” – opposes arrogance, a worldview focused on human superiority. For more information please visit PETA.org or subscribe to the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram…
