New York – This is a hot dog release: PETA swallowed hard and this year will not target Nathan’s famous July Fourth Hot Dog Eating Contest, but will instead promote Nathan’s New Vegetarian Dogs (who are kind to the cows and avoid the risk of cancer associated with the meat version) giving them away outside the event.
When: Sunday 4th July 11:00 am
Where: The intersection of Cerf and Stillwell Avenues, Brooklyn
“Remember, a meat hot dog is the part of a cow or pig that had feelings and valued freedom as much as everyone else,” says PETA executive vice president Tracy Reiman. “PETA calls on everyone to support freedom and justice for everything on the fourth of July by throwing a delicious Nathan’s Famous dog or any other vegetable dog on the grill. “
PETA, whose motto is partly “Animals are not ours to eat,” and which opposes arrogance, a worldview based on human superiority, offers vegan recipes on July Fourth on its website.
