Stockholm, Wisconsin. – Now that 47% of Americans want to include more vegan foods in their diet, this Thanksgiving promises to be the most vegan. To help vacation planners plan their meals, PETA has createdpieheaded Top 10 Vegan Pies served across the country, and Stockholm Pie and General StoreBlackberry Raspberry Pie took the top spot on the list.
“Juicy blackberries and raspberries combine in Stockholm Pie’s famous double puff pastry and the General Store for the perfect festive mix of sweet and tart,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “From peaches to pecans, PETA celebrates all vegan tarts that make it easy to enjoy a delicious vegan feast that leaves cows and chickens alone.”
Vegan desserts are not only free from saturated animal fats and cholesterol, but they also save animals a lot of suffering: in the dairy industry, calves are torn from their mothers shortly after birth, and in the egg industry, chickens are cut off. hot blade when they’re only a few days old.
Other winners include Sinfull Bakery in Houston; Clementine Bakery in Brooklyn, New York; Sweet Hazel & Co. in Murray, Utah; and Ezra’s Enlightened Cafe in Indianapolis. Each diner will receive a framed certificate from PETA, which offers a ThanksVegan guide on its website, as well as apple and pumpkin pie recipes and more.
PETA, whose motto is in part that “the animals are not ours to eat” – opposes arrogance, a worldview focused on human superiority. For more information please visit PETA.org or subscribe to the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram…
