From Anchorage to Los Angeles and Paris to Manila, we address Millennium Hotels in the same way: Please do not disturb animals for human entertainment.
For the Iditarod, dogs are forced to run about 1,000 miles, pulling a heavy sled in some of the most grueling conditions on Earth. Up to half of those who start do not finish, leaving an even heavier burden on the remaining dogs.
The leading cause of death in dogs that do not survive Iditarod is aspiration pneumonia, often caused by inhalation of their own vomit. In the history of the race, more than 150 dogs have died, not counting those who died languishing on a short chain in the offseason, or were killed because they did not have the speed and stamina to succeed.
Take Action: Help the Dogs Now!
The death of dogs in the Iditarod is so common that official rules call some of them an “imminent danger.” In just the past decade, dogs forced to compete have died from a variety of causes, including choking, heart attacks, vehicle impact injuries, freezing to death, and excess fluid in the lungs. Despite this shocking brutality, Millennium Hotels continues to support the race.
Alaska Airlines, Chrysler, The Coca-Cola Company, Jack Daniel’s and other major brands have ended their sponsorship of Iditarod after hearing from PETA supporters. With your help, Millennium Hotels are sure to follow suit. It only takes a minute to talk to dogs on the phone or computer, so what are you waiting for? Start now:
