New Orleans residents – Shoppers heading to the CBD to do their fall shopping might think twice before heading to Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie, thanks to a message from PETA now traveling on Jefferson Transit (JeT) buses.
The ads are part of PETA’s international campaign requiring all Urban Outfitters, Inc. (including Anthropologie and Free People) stopped selling wool, as well as leather, fluff, cashmere, alpaca, and anything else cruelly derived from animals.
“By selling sweaters, scarves and footwear made from stolen fleece, feathers and leather, the Urban Outfitters brands fund violence against animals,” said PETA executive vice president Tracy Reiman. “PETA encourages the brand to be violent and stick to the stylish vegan design that today’s good-hearted consumers want.”
Since 2014, PETA has published 14 exposures documenting the abuse of sheep, including slapping and skinning sheep in the face at 117 sheep shearing plants on four continents. Other PETA revelations have shown workers hitting, kicking and maiming delicate alpacas for their fur; leave sensitive goats with bloody gaping wounds during cashmere operations; burn, electroshock, beat and slaughter cows on the skin; and pluck the feathers of ducks and geese by a handful of fluff.
PETA – whose motto is in part that “the animals are not ours” – opposes arrogance, a worldview focused on human excellence. For more information please visit PETA.org or subscribe to the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram…
