Chickens suffer in the egg industry
At Miyapo egg farms, workers were seen grabbing chickens, painfully twisting their wings, and then throwing them from the second floor of the building.
Unwanted birds were stuffed into plastic bags and left to suffocate.
Sick and wounded chickens were kept in cages so small that they could not even spread their wings.
Many birds were so tense that they pulled out their own feathers.
Chickens suffered from a vent loss, a painful condition caused by being forced to lay many more eggs than is natural.
And the birds, entangled in the wire mesh of their cages, were ignored and left to a long and painful death. After they died, the workers allowed their decaying bodies to rot alongside their living cage mates.
The harsh conditions in Miyapo are not the exception, but the rule. PETA released a similar video materials demonstrates rampant violence and neglect on a farm owned by ISE Foods, Japan’s largest egg producer, certified to sell eggs at the Tokyo Olympics.
