Jericho, NY – Compassionate Business Award moves from PETA to local Kimco Realty to develop warning signs about the danger of leaving dogs and children in parked cars; and to install signs in malls across the country after talking to PETA about the possibility of death.
“The temperature inside a parked car rises quickly in just a few minutes, so even a ‘quick order’ can be fatal to a dog or child locked in that car, and unexpected distractions or delays often lead to tragedy,” says PETA executive vice president Tracy … Reiman. “By responding to PETA’s call for warning signs, Kimco Realty will surely save lives.”
Last year heat-related deaths of the 31 dogs made the news – and many more suffered and died out of the public eye. Anyone who sees a dog or a child in a parked car should take action immediately: write down the color, make, model and license plate and hurry so that the nearest stores have information about the owner of the car – if the owner cannot be found, call the local humane authorities or the police. And if they are does not respond, do whatever you can to save a person’s life. PETA offers a window breaker for emergency relief.
Kimco Realty will receive a framed certificate and a box of delicious vegan chocolates.
