Arlington, TX. – A Compassionate Fire Department Award and Reward from hero to animals head to the Arlington Fire Department and local 5-year-old Hunter Pollard, respectively, in honor of their joint work to rescue a deaf elderly dog from a storm sewer.
15-year-old dog Zoe went missing on 19 August. Her guardians and their neighbors searched for her for two days, but although they heard barking, they could not find her – until the plumbing company used a camera to see her. it is inside the drainpipe under the road. Then the firefighters dug 11 o’clock to get to the pipe – and when one of them mentioned that the skateboard would help in the rescue operations, Hunter immediately volunteered for it, and the rescuers used it to slide down the pipe, get to Zoe and reunite her with her sighing family.
“With his compassion for animals and his commitment to helping those in need, Hunter has a bright future ahead of him,” says Martha Holmberg, PETA Senior Director of Youth Programs. “PETA honors him and all the rescuers who worked hard to reunite this frightened dog with her family.”
