Mom noticed that her daughter? S hair is getting shorter, so she decided to follow her. A mother is furious with the primary school after her disabled daughter had her hair cut by bullies for a 6th time. Do you ever feel like a failure as a mom or what we call that mom guilt feeling day in and day out. A few days ago I had one of those days.
The baby wasn’t sleeping well and had been up half the night. I didn’t get to shower. The house was still a complete disaster from the busy week prior and I was feeling extra sorry for myself because it was a Saturday and my husband was headed out to work for an extra long day of work. Assuming that the bullies restrict their attack to words, teach your child to ignore them. You might have fun with your child by creating some humorous nonthreatening responses.
If there are physical threats or actual shoving, it must be reported. I would begin with a school counselor, perhaps with you present. If it’s physical bullying, that means telling them that it’s okay to defend themselves and supporting them if they later get in trouble, for it is as often the case with zero tolerance policies for verbal bullying. Give them a voice recorder to record any incidents so that you have evidence to back up a report. In either case, have them speak with a counselor.
The bottom line is that it is impossible to control a school situation when you aren’t there at every moment. All you can do is damage control. Give your child the skills to come out of it with their head held high and make sure the bullies are held accountable. Have an air of confidence, but be nice with it. If any attempt is made to start bullying, do not react in any way.
Once people see you as someone who is self assessed, they tend to not bother. Bullying is basically belittling to make the person doing it feel better about their own insecurities by appearing confident. There is nothing to Hone in on for them. A good way to gain confidence is to take some selfdefense classes. You may not need to defend yourself from physical attack, but just knowing you can can give off a confident vibe.
Samantha Fleming’s daughter, Melissa Booth, five, of Chatiston, Derbyshire, is in reception at Cherry Tree Hill Primary School but has been coming home with hair chopped off. Melissa was born with micro ephyla, a medical condition in which the circumference of the head is smaller than normal because the brain has not developed properly or has stopped growing.
Melissa, five, has had her hair pictured left before the bullies got to it hacked off six times, right the hair after her last ordeal, Ms. Fleming, 34, said Melissa started her new school in September 2017, and she has come home with her hair cut six times so far. It’s happened again every few months.
The first time it happened. The school spoke to the children about how dangerous scissors are. Then after it happened again in February this year, I spoke to the head teacher who said he would keep a close eye out for it. But now it’s happened again and I’m not happy about it. In September, her hair was halfway down her back.
No matter how many times it has happened, nothing serious has been done about it due to Melissa’s health issues. Her hair doesn’t grow back very well every time it has been cut. I have to cut off another one to two inches to get it straight again, but it takes a while to grow back. We have spoken to Miss Booth about the allegations raised, but cannot give out details of individual children or circumstances. This is an internal matter which we will continue to investigate.
Our goal is not only to provide high quality education, but also to ensure the safety of the children we care for every day and that will continue to be our priority. Samantha Fleming, pictured, is furious at Bullies, who chop hair from the head of her daughter, also pictured every few months. Ms. Fleming went on to talk about how microcephaly affects her daughter’s life. She added, Melissa’s got a processing issue which affects how she programs her brain.
What is microcephaly? Microcephaly is a condition where the circumference of the head is smaller than normal because the brain has not developed properly or has stopped growing. It can be caused by a genetic condition or by a certain viruses that the fetus is exposed to during pregnancy and can be present from birth or maybe develop after. Zika virus has been associated with a large number of babies born with microcephaly. Children with microcephaly have symptoms including learning disabilities, cerebral palsy, hearing loss and vision problems.
Some children born with the condition will have normal intelligence and a head that grows bigger, but it will still be below average in size. Just six months ago, she was struggling to put any sentences together and she’s only just starting to string sentences now. She’s also got a hearing problem which affects her behavior.
I think because of her condition she gets in with the wrong crowd and she doesn’t understand the difference between what is naughty and what is good. The mother of three believes that the school could resolve the problem by stopping the children from using scissors in classroom.
She added, this is an ongoing problem. The Bullies used school scissors to cut Melissa’s hair. I asked the school if they could put the scissors away, but their response was that the children need them for their education. The most recent attack on Melissa happened on Tuesday and Ms. Fleming said on Wednesday she is now waiting to hear back from the school about the latest issues.
The five year old, who has had problems forming sentences due to her condition, faces Bullies targeting her hair at the Derbyshire school yesterday Tuesday Melissa went to school with her hair a lot longer than it was when I picked her up, she said. So when I picked her up, we went straight back into the school and showed Melissa’s hair to the head of her year.
A spokesperson for Cherry Tree Hill Primary School said bullying can have a devastating effect on children and families. And at Cherry Tree Hill Primary School, we take any report of alleged bullying extremely seriously and will always investigate. The school can only take this so far and requires the cooperation of parents and carers.

Our goal is not only to provide high quality education, but also to ensure the safety of the children we care for every day and that will continue to be our priority. The bullying became unbearable toward the end of my sophomore year.
I had endured so much. I had been gangged up by the whole school. I had been threatened. I’ve been shoved and pushed. Someone put gum in my hair and people would throw things at me.
Terrible rumors were spread about me throughout the school. I had been sexually assaulted and the one girl who knew told everyone I had asked for it and people were threatening me and saying horrible things about something I was already so traumatized by. There is so much more.
But the point is, all of this pushed me to the end of my rope when a teacher saves another girl after being bullied when a kindergarten teacher found out her student was being bullied because of her short haircut, she came up with a sweet way to show her support by getting a matching due. Last year, Priscilla Perez, a student at Meter Elementary School in Willis, Texas, endured teasing from other students who called her a boy because of her short Pixie hairstyle.
The hurtful comments often left the five year old in tears. I would cry because I would think school was not fun, Priscilla told local news outlet KTRK. Her teacher, Shannon Grimm, soon noticed that Priscilla was becoming more withdrawn because of the bullying, and the young girl even began to wear a hat to class to cover her hair.
Her friends started to call her a boy, and those words cut deep, Grimm told the news station. Any time I would put my arm around to help her with her work, she would get stiff and nervous while thinking of a way she could bring some confidence back to Priscilla and hopefully teach her other students a valuable lesson.
Grimm decided over winter break to make a drastic change to her own appearance by chopping off her locks. She revealed the new Pixie cut in a Facebook Live video in December. I have one of my friends in my classroom that has really short hair and it’s not her fault.
She wanted long hair. She wants long hair. But there were some reasons why she had to get her hair cut. She’s been really sad and depressed at school because friends think that it makes her look like a boy, Grimm continued on the video. That’s exactly why I cut my hair.
