Since the shocking evidence collected by PETA’s investigator in Moulton Chinchilla Ranch (MCR)– a fetid plant near Chatfield, Minnesota – showed that about 1,000 chinchillas were kept in cramped cages in a filthy barn, we worked hard to inform companies that have ties to this terrible pet industry and lab suppliers of our findings. and encouraging them to reconsider their relationship. This outreach works: On hearing from PETA, Atlas Pet Supply near Minneapolis has ended its partnership with MCR. Rochester Community and Technical CollegeThe Veterinary Technician Program has also completed its study visits to the mill.
We will not stop there! For one week, listeners to FM 97.5 in the Minnesota state of the Rochester area will hear a salutary message from PETA. Our radio spot, broadcast twice a day from Monday March 29th to Sunday April 4th, reminds KNXR listeners that chinchillas are still suffering in MCR and tells them how they can proceed.
What chinchillas carry at Moulton Chinchilla Ranch and in the pet trade
The owner of MCR has repeatedly deprived chinchillas of urgently needed veterinary care due to a number of serious illnesses, including the following:
- Abscessive breast tissue that has ruptured
- Puffy, pus-filled eyes
- Regrown teeth
- Bloody, mutilated foot with exposed bones
MCR has been selling chinchillas for over 50 years, including in the laboratory and in pets. Animals that survive from this hideous warehouse are sent to creepy experiments and pet shops across the country and beyond.
Chinchillas sold in pet supplies suffer. Impulsive shoppers are not ready to meet the complex needs of these exotic animals – they need ample exercise space, specialized veterinary care, frequent dust baths, low temperatures and humidity, to name just the basics. Consequently, chinchillas acquired as “pets” often suffer in inadequate living conditions and may be abandoned or even abandoned.
Act for the animals!
It’s time for Moulton to end the exploitation of chinchillas for profit and allow these animals to receive proper care and safe, good homes that have been denied them for so long. Tens of thousands of compassionate people across the country have already called for an end to this merciless suffering, and you can join them. PETA makes it quick and easy to take action using your phone or computer, so what are you waiting for?
