Panda Express announced that testing of a new vegan version of one of its most popular dishes will begin soon. Beginning July 26, a new dish called Beyond the Original Orange Chicken will be available at select Panda Express stores in New York and Los Angeles. This is a vegan version of one of the chain’s specialties, made with Beyond Meat chicken, crispy breading and no honey sauce.
In 2019, PETA urged Panda Express to keep up with the times by offering vegan options in its 2,000 stores worldwide. After PETA supporters took over 234,000 change actions, the company began offering its first vegan meals.
While you wait for Beyond the Original Orange Chicken to arrive near you, try these other vegan options at Panda Express *:
Chow Mein
Eggplant tofu
Super greens (broccoli, kale and kale)
Vegetable spring roll
Steamed brown and white rice
Sauces
- Chili sauce

- Teriyaki sauce
*Please note that availability and ingredients may vary by location. Always check with the store to see if it’s suitable for vegans.
Panda Express’s move follows the actions of other fast food chains that have expanded or introduced delicious vegan options. Panda Express has captured what many already know: veganism is on the rise and there are no signs of decline.
Being a vegan has never been so convenient or easier. But the animals still need help!
Of course, fast food may not be for everyone, but we are all in favor of any option that allows consumers to eat a vegan meal on the go and prevents sensitive animals from entering the cages of their own filth, torment and horrific death by having their throats slit while they are still conscious. … Hungry diners want quick and compassionate options, and experienced food companies will either offer them or be left behind.
Taking action, help get vegan options at McDonald’s, KFC, Domino’s, and more. Each time you click Take Action, the other company will receive a message urging them to offer vegan options. How cool and convenient is it?
Note: PETA promotes healthy veganism. If you prefer fast food, we suggest parameters kinder to animals. As is often the case with many vegan restaurants, the Panda Express uses shared equipment, so cross-contamination can occur. But remember, helping animals is not about personal cleanliness!
