Bossier Parish, Louisiana. “To commemorate the four cows that were killed and others that were injured after a truck caught fire on West I-20 last Friday, PETA plans to place a billboard next to the crash site that reads:“See Human. Become a vegan.“
“These gentle cows lived in fear and died in agony, and the trauma survivors were surrounded and probably dragged out so that their throats could be slit and their bodies slaughtered for food,” says PETA senior director Daniel Katz. “PETA’s ad encourages anyone concerned about the idea of animals suffering from fire or slaughter to become vegan.”
Cows in the meat industry are often kept in cramped and muddy feedlots with no weather protection. In the slaughterhouse, workers shoot them in the head with a pistol with captive bolts, hang them by one leg, and slit their throats – often while they are still conscious. Every person who goes vegan saves the lives of nearly 200 cows, pigs, chickens and other animals each year and helps prevent epidemics and pandemics.
PETA, whose motto is in part that “the animals are not ours to eat” – opposes arrogance, a worldview focused on human superiority. For more information please visit PETA.org or subscribe to the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram…
