Kansas City, Missouri. “Any day is a good day to earn a place in heaven, and this is the message on PETA’s new“ Welcome to Vegans ”billboard hanging from a pearl gate that appeared on July 5 near dozens of local churches.
“Jesus cried because of the animal conditions on the squalid farms that treat God’s creations as insensitive and disposable,” says PETA President Ingrid Newkirk. “The PETA billboard reminds people, Christians or others, that the decision not to kill in order to eat flesh is an act of mercy.”
In Genesis 1:29, God gives people “every plant that yields seed” and “every tree that has fruit with seed on it” for food, without mentioning slaughter. However, many of His creatures, who feel pain as much as we do, suffer from the moment they are born. They suffer painful mutilations such as castration and clipping of teeth, other forms of abuse and neglect on industrial farms, and are carried in any weather to the slaughterhouse, where they suffer horrific death.
The billboard is located on 4500 Ave., close to Berean Fellowship Church, Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church, Tifereth Sforad Congregation, Saint Thomas Missionary Baptist Church, Allen Chapel AME Church, Mount Ararat Baptist Church and many others.
PETA, whose motto is in part “The animals are not ours to eat,” and which opposes arrogance, a worldview centered on human excellence, offers a free starter kit for vegans. For more information please visit PETA.org or subscribe to the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram…
