Albuquerque, New Mexico – Any day is a good day to earn your place in heaven. This is the message on PETA billboards that have just appeared outside churches throughout the city. The billboards are adorned with the word “Welcome to Vegans” on the pearl gate.
“Jesus mourned the living conditions of animals on cramped, squalid industrial farms that regard God’s creations as insensitive and disposable. things“Says PETA President Ingrid Newkirk. “PETA’s billboard reminds people, Christian or not, that avoiding the flesh is the ultimate act of mercy.”
Genesis 1:29 says that God gives “every plant that yields seed” and “every tree that has seed in its fruit” for human consumption, without mentioning slaughter. PETA also notes that the Bible describes its only hunters – Esau and Nimrod – as rebellious and spiritless, and that God issued the commandment “Thou shalt not kill.” However, the meat industry forces animals to endure painful mutilations such as castration and tooth cutting on farms and die in agony in slaughterhouses.
There are billboards in the following locations:
PETA, whose motto is in part “The animals are not ours to eat,” and which opposes arrogance, a worldview centered on human excellence, offers a free starter kit for vegans. For more information please visit PETA.org or subscribe to the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram…
