Pasadena, California. “Any day is a good day to earn a place in heaven, and that’s the message on PETA’s new billboard, which appeared on Monday a mile from the five regional churches. A promotional video with the “Welcome to Vegans” sign hanging from the heavenly gates will run for a month or longer, depending on the reaction of the locals.
“Jesus mourned animal welfare on cramped and squalid farms that treat God’s creations as insensitive and disposable,” says PETA President Ingrid Newkirk. “The PETA billboard reminds people, Christians or others, that giving up meat is the ultimate act of mercy.”
Genesis 1:29 says that God gives “every plant that yields seed” and “every tree that has seed in its fruit” for human consumption, without mentioning slaughter. The merciful God, who commanded: “Thou shalt not kill,” did not give an exception, allowing the killing of living creatures that are not human and who feel pain as much as we do. Those used for food suffer from the moment they are born as they suffer painful mutilations such as castration and “cutting teeth,” other forms of suffering and neglect on farms, and are carried in any weather to a slaughterhouse where they suffer horrific death.
The billboard is located at 2745 E. Colorado Blvd., near Mission of the Church of the Light of Love, City Church of Pasadena, World Missionary Society Church of God, as well as Church in Pasadena…
PETA, whose motto is in part “The animals are not ours to eat,” and which opposes arrogance, a worldview based on human superiority, offers a vegan starter kit. For more information please visit PETA.org or subscribe to the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram…
