San Diego – Below you will find a statement from PETA President Ingrid Newkirk in response to the announcement that San Diego will not be allowed to set fireworks this year near the La Jolla seal and sea lion rookery:
By letting the Fourth of July fireworks go out, La Jolla gave a little freedom and fairness to seals and sea lions, which will now be free from explosions and explosions that could panic mothers and cause them to abandon their cubs. It’s a happy day for the PETA members who protested in front of Mayor Todd Gloria’s office on Tuesday, for the good members of San Diegans and the Animal Defense and Rescue League who fought this thoughtless demonstration every step of the way, and for every animal, wild or domestic. who calls the bay of La Jolla his home.

PETA, whose motto is in part that “animals are not in our hands to be abused in any way,” is opposed to arrogance, a worldview focused on human superiority. For more information please visit PETA.org or subscribe to the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram…
