New York – Below you will find a statement from PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman in response to the announcement that Valentino will be phasing out fur from 2022:
“After more than a decade of campaigning – including protests and runway disruptions – PETA and our international affiliates, Valentino announced that it would ban fur. Applause rose today at PETA headquarters when it was revealed that even the fashion house that sewed mink for sneakers is changing over time. At this rate, not a single designer will be selling fur next year – and this is not surprising, because not a single good buyer will buy it. “
