Dear Mr. Wolfe:
I am writing on behalf of PETA and over 6.5 million of our members and supporters around the world, including nearly 180,000 in Los Angeles, to thank the Dodgers for rethinking their partnership with Farmer John and innings An idea for you: Please end your relationship with all the filthy, dangerous slaughterhouses that grind pigs, serving only the delicious vegan dogs you already offer.
Slaughterhouses are some of the most dangerous jobs in the country – and they were even before the current pandemic. Across the country, these facilities have become hot spots for the new coronavirus, tens of thousands of meat industry workers have contracted COVID-19, and hundreds have died. The World Health Organization reports that processed meats such as hot dogs are carcinogenic to humans. Pigs are curious and curious animals: they love communication and value their relationship with each other. In their natural environment, they enjoy basking in the sun, rooting in the soil and running across many acres of land – something they can’t do on a factory farm.
In 2020, Los Angeles was devastated by another summer of violent wildfires, and California is already gearing up for another record drought this summer. The huge amount of water used in livestock production contributes to the creation of arid conditions that contribute to the spread of forest fires.
The meat industry has shown that profit matters most to it – damn workers, consumers, animals and the environment. We urge you to get down to business and succeed in the interests of animals, the Earth and human health by selling only vegan dogs. Looking forward to your response.
