Cincinnati – Some baseball fans will no doubt think twice before ordering real meat hot dogs or sausages while watching the reds play this weekend – because PETA put ads on benches around Great American Ball Park reminding everyone that pigs don’t want dying for nothing to eat. …
“Pigs are playful, intelligent and adorable people who don’t deserve to be eaten between feeds,” says PETA President Ingrid Newkirk. “PETA’s advertisements remind us that tasty animal-free swaps are highly valued on a scale of compassion.”
Today, on industrial farms, mothers’ pigs are placed in narrow metal stalls, only a few inches larger than their bodies, and are kept almost constantly pregnant or breastfeeding. Pigs have their tails chopped off, their teeth cut off with pliers, and males are castrated – all without any pain relief. Every person who goes vegan saves nearly 200 animals every year, and choosing vegan foods improves human health as the World Health Organization has confirmed that eating processed meat can cause cancer.
Ads with a positive pig sign will run until Sunday in the following locations:
