Norfolk, Virginia. – Ahead National Ice Cream Day (Sunday, July 18), PETA searched the menus of traditional ice cream shops across the country for the best vegan ice cream, and many favorite brands. topping list:

    • Dairy Queenwhich created its first ever vegan frozen dessert – the Non-Dairy Dilly Bar, a crunchy dream based on coconut cream with chocolate icing – after years of pressure from PETA.
    • Ben and Jerrywhose favorite vegan flavors are available not only in a pint but also in scoops (flavors include chocolate chip cookie dough, coconut almond chips, and coffee fudge chips for cold brewing).
    • Janie’s Gorgeous Ice Creamwhose dairy-free creations include dark chocolate truffle, cold coconut cream beer, toasted peanut butter and strawberry jam, Texas leafy cake and caramel sticky pecan buns.
    • Sub Zero Nitrogen Ice Creamwhich can be customized any order ice cream based on soy, almond or cashew milk – and fill it with all the fillings you might want

“Customers are demanding cow-friendly ice cream, and the nation’s top stores are paying attention,” says PETA executive vice president Tracy Reiman. “PETA recognizes chains that offer some of the tastiest dairy-free treats.”

There are also several regional ice cream chains on the list, including Amy’s Ice Cream (Texas), Ghirardelli Ice Cream and Chocolate Shop (San Leandro, California) Hello top (Angels) McConnell’s Fine Ice Cream (California), OddFellows Ice Cream Co. (Brooklyn) Perry Ice Cream (Northeast USA), Salt and straw (West Coast), Stuart stores (New York State) and Van Leeuwen (Brooklyn and Los Angeles).

Every person who goes vegan drastically reduces their carbon footprint and saves the lives of nearly 200 animals each year. In the dairy industry, cows are artificially inseminated: workers insert a hand into the animal’s rectum and a metal rod to deliver the sperm into the vagina, and then send them to slaughter when their bodies fail.

PETA, whose motto is in part that “the animals are not ours to eat or otherwise abuse” – opposes arrogance, a worldview focused on human superiority. For more information please visit PETA.org or subscribe to the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram…
