Tokyo – See PETA Vice President Shalin Gala statement regarding additional allegations of abuse related to the Tokyo Olympics following Keigo Oyamada’s resignation due to bullying:
While the world is spinning with strange news that Keigo Oyamada, the composer who worked on the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics, once forced a classmate to eat his feces and masturbate in front of others, this is not the only abuse scandal plaguing the games. …
Ajinomoto Co., Inc., a sponsor of the National Olympic Training Center and the world’s leading manufacturer of monosodium glutamate, forces animals to run on treadmills at high speeds until they are exhausted, saving their lives to swim in drowning trials, battling strangers jump from electric shock in pseudoscientific tests that most resemble the depraved version of the Olympic trials. But in Ajinomoto’s “games,” all of the participants are ultimately killed and dissected, simply so that the company can make dubious marketing claims about the health effects of its products.
Similar to Oyamada’s blatant mistreatment of vulnerable people, Ajinomoto used to force-feed mice with bacteria isolated from the feces of other sick mice and sexually abused cows, repeatedly poking them in the anus and vulva.
Ajinomoto has no excuse to continue these erroneous animal tests, which are based on curiosity and are not legally required. More than 144,000 people have called on the company to join dozens of global food companies that have banned animal testing after negotiations with PETA.
