Washington – PETA has called on US Central Command Commander General Kenneth F. Mackenzie Jr. and Acting Assistant Secretary of the US Department of State Dean Thompson to intervene in the fate of dozens of dogs and other animals, including the US military. working dogs and companion animals owned by evacuated Americans to ensure the safe evacuation of as many of them as possible, along with their caregivers. PETA today is address to President Joe Biden– and encourages everyone to do the same – to act immediately.
Domestic sources told PETA that among the allegedly abandoned animals there may be about 60 dogs sniffing out bombs, which have been caged on the runway at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul for several days, their exit blocked by the US State Department, and about 60 dogs. service dogs kept in the airport hangar and suffering from the heat without adequate access to food and water. In addition, dozens of pets belonging to evacuated American families, including a small pug companion of an embassy employee, appear to have been “released” into the streets to take care of themselves, with little chance of survival.
See the following statement from PETA Senior Vice President Daphne Nachminovich:
Animals do not wage war, but often – along with innocent civilians – are among the hardest hit by them. Thousands of dogs “served” in Vietnam only to be abandoned when leaving, and history seems to be repeating itself. Many of the brave, loyal dogs trapped in Afghanistan have risked their lives to save people, while others are beloved members of already traumatized families, all of whom must be evacuated along with their guardians. They seem to have been abandoned and cannot be left behind. PETA Urges President Biden To Get These People Out Now… They don’t need another memorial or museum – they need a plane ride.
PETA, whose motto is in part that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way,” is opposed to arrogance, a worldview focused on human superiority.
