Monmouth, NJ – See the following statement from PETA Senior Vice President Katy Guillermo regarding the first Haskell stakes scheduled for Saturday at Monmouth Park, as Thoroughbred horse racing has been banned from spanking in New Jersey:
PETA congratulates Monmouth Park and New Jersey for the first-ever Haskell Stakes, which will not whip horses repeatedly to get them to run faster – a good step towards reducing cruelty. PETA is urging all racing states to follow New Jersey’s lead and stop beating horses.
