Below is a statement from PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman in response to the announcement that Neiman Marcus Group will phase out fur by early 2023:
After decades of pressure from hard-line grassroots activists and PETA, the Neiman Marcus Group will stop selling fur to Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman. By closing 22 fur stores, the company will prevent electric shocks, gas poisoning and the beating of thousands of animals to death. We are confident that fur sales will end sooner than the stated end goal, as no one wants to be caught dead in fur anymore.
