Montreal – Danny Maciocha, CEO Montreal Alouette, It has scored PETA’s Proposal: A vegan party protein feast hosted by the group for the team to enjoy after they fight the Ottawa Redblacks on Monday.
This offer is part of PETA’s nationwide ThanksVegan campaign, which asks everyone to give turkeys a break this holiday by choosing pet-friendly foods and Sobeys, Savings on food, Food at low prices, AGE, and other major grocery chains across Canada to showcase their ready-to-roast vegan turkeys and other vegan holiday dishes.
“When people understand that turkeys love their families, feel pain and fear, and value their life, they tend to put vegan turkey on the table, ”writes PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “Win or lose, but the residents of Aluet could celebrate the kindness of tender birds by savoring a delicious vegan Gratitude dish courtesy of PETA.”
Turkeys can live up to 10 years, but those raised for food are usually slaughtered in infancy – 12 to 26 weeks old – and millions are killed every Thanksgiving year in Canada alone. The chicks are hung by their feet on metal candelabra and dragged through an electric bath, and they are often still conscious when their throats are slit and thrown into scalding tanks for skinning.
PETA, whose motto is in part that “the animals are not ours to eat” – opposes arrogance, a worldview focused on human superiority. Everyone can find delicious holiday recipes by ordering one from PETA. The Ultimate Canadian Gratitude… For more information please visit PETA.org or subscribe to the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram…
