Marysville, Ohio – PETA sent out a letter this morning to James Hagedorn, chairman and CEO of a local company. Scotts Company, OOOby asking him to stop selling Tomcat glue traps, which inflict severe, prolonged pain and injury to animals before death – and as such appear to violate animal cruelty laws in California and other states.

For example, California law prohibits inflicting unnecessary and unnecessary pain and suffering on animals, depriving them of essential food and drink, and causing them cruel death – and when used according to their instructions, this is exactly what Tomcat glue traps do. Panicked animals trapped in them can fight and suffer for hours or even days before finally dying of dehydration, hunger, exhaustion, suffocation, or blood loss. Moreover, the instructions do not say that users regularly check traps for captured animals, and they recommend that people put used traps – along with captured animal victims – in the trash. whether the animal is still alive…

“By selling Tomcat glue traps, Scotts condemns small animals to a horribly slow and painful death and can turn buyers into lawbreakers,” said Jared Goodman, vice president and deputy general counsel for animal law at PETA. “PETA is urging the company to stop marketing these vile traps.”

PETA is also asking Target and Ace Hardware to stop selling Tomcat glue traps. The group previously asked the FTC to completely ban Scotts from selling traps, or at least require it to instruct users to check traps at least every hour and add a label warning California residents that traps may violate state law. The complaint is pending.

PETA, whose motto is in part that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way,” is opposed to arrogance, a worldview focused on human superiority. For more information please visit PETA.org or subscribe to the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram…
