Portland, Maine – On Thursday, a PETA supporter posing as a lobster will dash around inside a giant reservoir in Congress Square Park to give passers-by food for thought about how lobsters suffer when they are boiled alive, and how to encourage people to empathize with them and eat vegan food.
When: Thursday 14 October 12:00
Where: Congress Square Park, at the intersection of Congress and High Street, Portland
“Lobsters are smart, social people who, like you and me, are in pain and fear and don’t want to be boiled alive,” says PETA executive vice president Tracy Reiman. “PETA encourages everyone to switch to delicious vegan seafood that will keep aquatic animals safe and sound in their oceanfront homes.”
PETA, whose motto is in part that “the animals are not ours to eat” – opposes arrogance, a worldview focused on human superiority.
