West Springfield, Massachusetts. – Below is a statement from PETA’s Deputy Director of Captive Animal Law Enforcement, Debbie Metzler, in response to this year’s Big E, which will not feature elephant exhibits:
After the last elephant exploited in The Big E fell dead in the parking lot, the fair was heard loud and clear by PETA, over 175,000 supporters and local residents. This year’s elephant-free fair is a terrific first step, and The Big E could win blue ribbon for kindness by officially banning all exotic animal displays.
