Unfortunately, Richard Donner died this week.
If you’re old enough to remember the movie Lethal Weapon 3you may remember all the animal rights posters posted around the police station in the movie. It was the classic Donner who was known for breaking into his films from social media. In this case, he was targeting General Motors, which was still beating pigs and ferrets in crash tests at the time. His actions helped PETA put an end to these deadly experiments.
Donner and his compassionate wife Lauren Schuler Donner received the PETA Humanitarian Award at their 25th meeting.th A jubilee gala, but he will forever be remembered for his call to end the imprisonment of marine mammals. His Free Willie told a whole generation about animals in marine parks.
“Taking these magnificent mammals out of the wild for commercial purposes is obscene. … These horrific seizures must definitely become a thing of the past. “
—Richard Donner
Donner approached SeaWorld to fund the creation of a coastal sanctuary so that the killer whales in his parks could be retired. PETA is still promoting this initiative.
If you are one of Donner’s millions of fans, please pay homage to his legacy by doing something that will change the lives of animals.
Help whales and dolphins!
