State College, Pa. – See PETA Vice President Shalin Gala statement regarding a recent animal experiment co-authored with Ajinomoto and Pennsylvania State University:
The world’s leading manufacturer of monosodium glutamate has harmed dogs and other animals for years, and now uses cows in experiments that look more like sexual abuse than science. In a recently published experiment at Penn State University, sensitive cows were subjected to brutal testing to determine if they could produce more milk when fed with Ajinomoto. Specifically, the experimenters were fed cow feathers, blood, and the company’s test amino acid product; milked them repeatedly; repeatedly poked their anuses and vulvas; and repeatedly took their blood. Ajinomoto has no excuse to continue these erroneous animal tests, which are based on curiosity and are not legally required. More than 144,000 people have called on Ajinomoto to join dozens of global food companies that have banned animal testing after negotiations with PETA.
PETA, whose motto is in part that “animals are not ours to experiment on” – opposes arrogance, a worldview focused on human excellence. For more information please visit PETA.org…
