Orlando, Florida. – Because Starbucks agrees that animal-safe vegan milk is better for the planet. but still charges extra for themUniversity of Central Florida students participating in the Students Against Racism (SOS) program will take a Starbucks store on campus on Thursday. SOS is a PETA-backed, youth-led rebellion against the archaic notion that all other animals are inferior to humans and can be used at will.
When: Thursday, June 24, 12.00-14.00
Where: Starbucks, 4650 N. Alafaya Trl., # 103, Orlando
“From cow abuse to methane emissions and deforestation, dairy products are hard to swallow, and so are Starbucks vegan co-payments,” says PETA SOS director Rachel Owen. “Young people will not stand aside and let Starbucks milk customers who care about animals and the planet. “
Dairy farms are part of livestock production, a major cause of water pollution, ocean dead zones, species extinction and habitat destruction. By some estimates, the industry also produces more greenhouse gas emissions than the entire global transport sector.
Every person who goes vegan significantly reduces their carbon footprint and saves the lives of nearly 200 animals each year. Cows in the dairy industry are forcibly fertilized: workers insert their hand into the animal’s rectum and a metal rod into the vagina. They are sent to the slaughterhouse when their bodies wear out.
PETA’s motto, in particular, is that “the animals are not ours to eat or otherwise abuse.” For more information please visit PETA.org or subscribe to the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram…
