Philadelphia – “I want you to change!” This is the message of a chicken staring at motorists on I-95, thanks to a PETA billboard just popping up outside a host of chicken eateries including Andy’s Chicken, Applebee’s, Loco Pez, Green Eggs Café, and Love & Honey Fried. Chicken – encourage customers to think twice before ordering a fried chicken sandwich.
“We don’t know chickens anymore, so it’s time to stop eating them and remember that they love their families, form complex social structures and dream at night like humans do,” says PETA President Ingrid Newkirk. “The PETA billboard indicates that we can all show kindness to these people by keeping them off our plates.”
As PETA shows in its Chicken Backward video, the meat industry shoves tens of thousands of birds into dirty barns and scalds many to death in emptying tanks. Every person who goes vegan lowers the risk of health problems such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes, and may help prevent future pandemics. SARS, swine flu, avian flu, and COVID-19 all arose from keeping and killing animals for food.
On its website, PETA offers delicious lean meat recipes, a vegan starter kit with tips, and a vegan mentoring program to provide personalized personalized advice on cooking, shopping, and more.
The PETA billboard is located at 1511 N. Delaware Ave. and is visible from I-95 N. just before Exit 23.
PETA, whose motto is in part that “the animals are not ours to eat” – opposes arrogance, a worldview focused on human superiority. For more information please visit PETA.org or subscribe to the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram…
