The NRA chief is shooting, trying to kill the elephant – go for it!

INTERRUPT: Recently released footage shows National Rifle Association (NRA) executive vice president Wayne Lapierre repeatedly shooting and unable to kill an endangered African bush elephant while the dying animal rumbles in distress or to warn others – while someone- then, finally, will not understand to make the fatal shot.

Evoking memories of footage released by PETA last year of a Los Angeles man shooting a young elephant in South Africa, LaPierre and his wife (Susan) reportedly traveled to Botswana in 2013 to support their sadistic desire to kill, on this time with elephants in sights. During Lapierre’s failed attempt to kill Susan, she can be seen standing nearby and laughing at the groaning elephant. The apparently happy LaPierre has taken over the leadership, and you can hear him muttering something like, “I’m not sure where you are shooting.” The guide eventually fired a shot that killed the animal.

“Where are you telling me to shoot?” – asks the frustrated LaPierre his guide after several unsuccessful attempts to shoot the elephant and kill him.

Susan, who during the trip “created her image for the NRA,” also shot the elephant, effectively killing it. “It was amazing. Awesome. Awesome. Awesome,” she said, reportedly. New YorkerSusan patted the dead elephant and called it “[b]Lovely Animal “and” Good Old Guy “before cutting off his tail with his knife, lifting both up and laughing. Both elephant legs were reportedly shipped to the US (to be used as “stools” at her and her husband’s home), but changed the name on the labels to avoid negative attention.

The crew of the NRA-sponsored show “Under the Wild Skies” traveled with the pair, reportedly filming footage that was meant to make the weapons organization more friendly to hunters, which many of its sponsors are. But the footage never went on the air – there were fears that Lapierre’s clearly terrible goal and the slow, painful death of a vulnerable elephant would evoke condemnation, not praise. Eight years later, the fears were confirmed.

This video is further proof that frightened little cowards are behind the macho posturing of the NRA, paying tens of thousands of dollars to have someone else track down elephants so that they can ineptly shoot them at close range.

This elephant died a terrible death, so Lapierre managed to chop off the animal’s legs and send it to the United States under someone’s name to make “trophies” out of it. We know this is unacceptable, and we need legislators to refuse to put up with such heinous crimes.
