Angels – After the public became acquainted with the underworld of breeding, trading and exploiting big cats, Netflix’s King of tigers preparing for the long-awaited second season. Below you will find a statement from PETA’s Deputy General Counsel for Captive Enforcement Brittany Peet, who appeared in the first season of the popular documentary series and played a key role in the imprisonment of Joe “The King of the Tigers” in Maldonado Passage. :
“It was a deservedly bad year for King of tigersvillains, almost all of whom are now in jail, are out of business, facing criminal charges or lawsuits. PETA is delighted to have played a role in all efforts to end their horrific violence and neglect of their magnificent wildlife, and hopes Season 2 will do more to highlight those who exploit them. ”
Since PETA has celebrated the following animal wins: King of tigersThe first season aired:
- We won a lawsuit against King of tigers theme Tim Starkcreation of the first-ever federal precedent for the premature separation of tigers, lions and tiger-lion hybrids from their mothers; removing their claws; or using them in public places violates the Endangered Species Act (ESA).
- As part of our ESA victory over Stark, PETA confiscated 25 big cats from him and his former business partner. Jeff Lowe Park King of the Tigers.
- After we spent years persuading the feds to oppose petting cubs, the U.S. Department of Justice relied on a precedent we set in our own lawsuit against Lowe, leading – in part due to evidence obtained and provided by PETA – to possible confiscation of all wild and exotic animals from him. There are no more tigers in Tiger King Park.
- Exhibitor “Doc” Antl from King of tigers is facing court on charges of animal cruelty in the state and on ESA charges in connection with the takeover of the Virginia Roadside Zoo, initiated by PETA after filing complaints with the Commonwealth Attorney General’s office.
- USDA just hit King of tigers villain and former drug dealer Mario Tabraue with two federal animal welfare violations after PETA reported a lion cub bit a visitor at its facility.
- The use of big cats for photo operations has fell after the release of the first season – and will probably drop even more with the start of the second.
