If you are 70.5 years old or older and have an IRA, you can help animals by lowering your taxes. And if you’re 72 or older, a donation from your IRA to PETA can also help meet your required minimum distribution.

Transferring funds from IRA to PETA through QCD is a simple yet effective way to significantly change the situation of animals right now. Here are some of the benefits:
- Your donation will help you save on taxes. When you withdraw funds from your IRA, they are considered taxable income. But QCDs are excluded from taxable income, making them an attractive and tax-efficient way to make a charitable gift, especially if you claim a standard deduction on your tax return.
- Your gift can help you meet the minimum distribution required. After you turn 72, you must disburse funds from your IRA annually or you could be punished. Your QCD can help meet the minimum required while making a significant difference in the lives of animals.
