New York – Following reports from PETA in which the group revealed that birds used to produce down could be force-fed or that their feathers could be torn from their bodies – luxury hotel brand and management company Dream Hotel Group confirmed that in the future he will only buy bedding without fluff. As a token of gratitude, PETA is sending the company a box of delicious vegan chocolates in the shape of a duck.

“Dream Hotels guests can sleep peacefully knowing that no birds have been harmed by their luxurious, fluffless bedding,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “All of us at PETA raise our points for this kind decision that recognizes ducks and geese as individuals and not as pillows or blankets.”

PETA research has shown that highly sensitive, social and family-oriented ducks and geese used in the down industry face intense confinement before being thrown into boxes and sent to slaughterhouses where their throats are slashed – often while still conscious. The down industry releases toxic chemicals, massive amounts of antibiotics and fecal waste onto land and waterways, harming workers, wildlife and the environment.

Dream Hotels joins Moxy, AC, Loews, Club Med, Diamond Resorts International, Red Roof Inn and several other hotel companies.

PETA, whose motto is in part that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way,” is opposed to arrogance, a worldview focused on human superiority.
