Austin, TX – After PETA discovered workers were kicking, stomping and hitting turkeys with a heavy stick on farms supplying Plainville farms, All products suspended all purchases from the company and removed its wares from store shelves, calling PETA’s footage “incredibly frustrating and unacceptable.”

A PETA researcher worked with crews that loaded turkeys into trucks heading to slaughterhouses at Plainville Farms ‘humane’ certified poultry farms. On camera, workers were filmed pretending to masturbate with a dying bird, throwing birds like basketballs, trying to break turkeys’ necks and throwing them aside so that they twitch and die in severe pain. Instead of doing anything to stop the violence, one leader kicked the turkeys himself and repeatedly urged workers to mock them.

“If Whole Foods shoppers saw turkeys being abused with so-called ‘humane’ meats, they would lose their lunch,” says PETA executive vice president Tracy Reiman. “PETA is urging consumers to keep these delicate birds in mind, ignore misleading marketing, and choose the many vegan options on Whole Foods’ shelves.”

Plainville Farms, which boasts that the turkeys it uses are “harmless” and have “convenient” and “stress-free” transportation, is “certified” by the Global Animal Partnership (GAP), founded by Whole Foods CEO John McKee. and whose director salary as of last year is paid by Whole Foods. PETA is demanding that GAP fundamentally change its certification program by banning labeling that is designed to defraud customers.

PETA also called on Plainville Farms to conduct a full audit of their teams and fire all abusive workers; encouraged Harris Teeter, Wegmans and Publix, also supplied by Plainville, to study their suppliers and highlight their vegan options; and has presented evidence to the Pennsylvania State Police, who are investigating.

Broadcast quality videos are available here. PETA, whose motto is in part that “the animals are not ours to eat or otherwise abuse” – opposes arrogance, a worldview focused on human superiority.
