It’s no surprise that cast members frequently feud with one another. But what happens if the situation becomes physical? “Any Given Sunday,” probably one of the finest sports films ever made, was a box office smash in 1999, starring Al Pacino, Cameron Diaz, LL Cool J, Dennis Quaid, and Jamie Foxx, to mention a few. The film follows a fictional professional football club as they attempt to win their first game after years of losing. According to PopCulture, Foxx played NFL quarterback Willie Beaman, and LL Cool J played great running back Julian “J-Man” Washington.
LL Cool J has been acting for a while now, but he’s been creating music for much longer! The star’s breakthrough record, ‘I Need A Beat,’ was published in 1984, and it effectively changed the rap game as we know it. Breakout performers were abundant throughout the 1980s and 1990s, including Jamie Foxx, who made his name di lui on the 1990 comedy ‘In Living Color.’ The actor rose to notoriety rapidly and landed his own comedy, ‘The Jamie Foxx Show.’
Jamie and LL Cool J were two of the most popular performers in the 1990s, so it was only natural that they would work together in the film ‘Any Given Sunday’ in 1999. While filming was still in progress, a scenario between Jamie and LL Cool J’s character went horribly wrong!
Foxx and LL Cool J had a fight on set, which stunned viewers. The actors were pacified by Miami-Dade County Police as a result of the altercation.
According to the Miami-Dade Police Department, LL began shoving his film’s antagonist, Jamie Foxx, and then hit him in the face while wearing a helmet.
“So, we did another take… And, then, I don’t know, but he thought it was a good idea to punch me in my face. This wasn’t scripted ”, remarked LL Cool J in a BET interview. It was just a matter of time before LL reacted by knocking Jamie Foxx out!
LL and Foxx agreed that the rapper would warn him first the next time he attacked the comedian. Foxx, on the other hand, informed police that when walking away from the altercation, he was smacked in the back of the head by LL’s arm di lui. Foxx smacked the 6’2 ″ rapper in the face as he turned around.
LL Cool J told police that he urged Foxx to make the incident more genuine during the recording since they weren’t acting and it wasn’t staged. Both of their faces were slightly injured, but they declined care.
LL Cool J was the subject of a police report filed by Foxx, but no charges or arrests were made. Despite the brawl and the negative press surrounding the film, it became a box office success.
According to DAZN, Dennis Quaid also joined in on what he recalled during an appearance on “The Ak & Barak Show” in April 2020, and suggested that the two could have a “rematch.” “I know it was about ego. I don’t take sides on anything. “
Quaid said the brawl lasted 30 seconds, though he didn’t see everything.
Actor Bill Bellamy, who portrayed Jimmy Sanderson, appeared to Instagram Live in December 2020 to retell his version of the event, alleging that Foxx was “knocked out” on set by LL. He alleged it began when the singer made repeated remarks about the “Rock the Bells” rapper. Bellamy told Foxx to stop because LL didn’t seem to find them amusing. They arrived on the field for their scene shortly after, and everything turned left. “As I’m about to say my line, BOOM, LL Cool J hits Jamie Foxx in the head, like on the helmet though.” Bellamy added the impact was heard throughout the set. “Jamie forgot his line of him, he knocked his line out his head of him.”
Despite being at odds for years following their off-screen confrontation, the two have reconciled and now have a wonderful bond.
