Angels – PETA wants cows that escaped a slaughterhouse in the Pico River, California area on Tuesday to break free, which they struggled to achieve, instead of being captured and returned to the slaughterhouse or – in the case of one cow – shot on the spot by law enforcement officers. Below is a statement from PETA President Ingrid Newkirk:
These cows’ desperate desire for freedom had to be acknowledged by moving them to a shelter where they could bond with other rescued cows, comfortably feed their calves, and live their lives the way you and I hope to do. PETA invites anyone who welcomed their escape or mourned their death to show compassion for all cows and all other animals by going vegan, and PETA is here to help with free vegan starter kits.
